Apple rebuilt Siri on Google's Gemini — the 'we build it all ourselves' era is evolving
A smarter Siri was long overdue.
Apple just rebuilt Apple Intelligence on Google's Gemini.
The company that makes its own chips, its own maps, its own everything outsourced the brain.
I think the privacy story still holds (on-device + Private Cloud Compute). But the 'we build it all ourselves' narrative seems to be evolving.
Though I'm keen to see the interface updates. How does Siri actually feel when intelligence becomes system-wide? When your phone understands context, apps, intent, and what you're trying to do? That part isn't being talked about enough.
For me right now the positives still outweigh the negatives. Giving it a few days to see how this actually ships first.
