Parvati Valley on two wheels

Kasol, Manali, Tosh, strung together by a motorbike and a road that kept climbing. Himachal in July is impossibly green at the bottom and still capped with snow up top, and you ride straight between the two.

Helmets on at dawn, flannel against the cold, a Himalayan parked at every viewpoint that demanded a photo. The villages with their slate roofs, the valley dropping away below — it’s the trip that made me a mountains person.
